RIP Tony Gubba

I am genuinely devastated at the news that Tony Gubba has died, aged 69.

I had never heard of him before Dancing On Ice, being from a family that watched very little televised sport. However, from the earliest editions on the show, back in 2006, it became apparent that Gubba's rundown after the skate was the best bit. Where else could we have found out what the skating stars had been up to in the last week? I don't know if he invented the names of the skating tricks, but I like to think he did - the REVERSE SPIRAL O'DEATH being everyone's favourite.
He commentated with infectious warmth and humour, and it always seemed that he was on the audience's side - giving us a knowing wink, letting us in on the joke.
I'm not sure Dancing On Ice will be worth watching anymore. He will be very much missed.
